Fitness training for pickleball

As a fast paced, dynamic sport, Pickleball appeals to a variety of players with diverse backgrounds and skill levels. With a smaller court and lighter racquet, Pickleball is more accessible to most than tennis. Despite having less surface area to cover, effective play still requires quick movement, frequent bending over, quick swinging action, and instant change of direction – resulting in opportunity for injury for the less physically prepared.

The UBS, a group of global financial analysts, predict there will be 67,000 trips to the ER, 366,000 outpatient visits, 8,800 outpatient surgeries, 4,700 hospitalizations and 20,000 post-acute episodes attributed to Pickleball in 2023. The goal of playing Pickleball is to get out, have fun, and better your life through socialization and exercise. Every injury leads to less play in the short-term and often, chronic pain and injury patterns in the long-term. Painful shoulders, knees, low-back, and ankles are consistently taking players out of the game.

Avoid missing out on playing with an exercise program geared toward mobility, flexibility, and injury-prevention. As a result, you will be able to keep injuries at bay while improving on court play. Exercise programs can be catered to all levels and abilities and will work with whatever equipment you have access to. It’s never too late to start working toward a healthier, more balanced body. We only get one!
